UEFA Champions League Winner

It was an emotional occasion as PSG dismantled Inter in the 2024-25 Champions League final, ending an underwhelming sequence of 12 consecutive knockout round exits. Luis Enrique’s side have been priced up as co-favourites for this year’s title as they aim to become the first team since Real Madrid in 2017-18 to go back-to-back in this competition.

Nevertheless, they have been handed a tough-looking schedule with trips to Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao alongside home fixtures with Europa League winners Spurs and Bayern Munich. Their opener against Atalanta is also far from a straightforward task.

Liverpool are also listed amongst the favourites, and Arne Slot’s side have a fairly favourable set of fixtures, including trips to Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt. Home ties against PSV and Qarabag also look winnable, although their opener against Atletico Madrid may be tougher.

Barcelona's fixtures also look straightforward, with Hansi Flick's men hosting Olympiakos and FC Copenhagen, while away trips to Club Brugge, Newcastle and Slavia Prague are likely to result in victories.

Although it comes down to which sides can hold their nerves in the knockout stages, finding a team with a favourable schedule may result in a positive cash-out opportunity at the halfway point.

Top Goalscorer

The 2024-25 top goalscorer award was shared between Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy and Barcelona’s Raphinha, both of whom netted 13 times.

Naturally, Erling Haaland has been selected as the leading contender in the Champions League Top Goalscorer market, and the Norwegian netted eight times in the competition last season. Nevertheless, enthusiasm may be tempered by Manchester City’s underwhelming start to the Premier League season.

Kylian Mbappe frequently turns up for the big occasion, and the Frenchman has already netted three times in La Liga. Mo Salah fluctuates between being anonymous and being instrumental, and with Liverpool's favourable schedule, he may have an opportunity to bank a few goals during the first few weeks of the tournament; however, a trip to AFCON may affect these chances.

Harry Kane is an interesting alternative. He’s evidently got his feet under the table at the Allianz, and even if Bayern aren’t able to go all the way, he is likely to get into double figures. He notched 11 times last season despite his side exiting at the quarter-final stage.

Alternative Outright Markets

There is an insatiable appetite for Champions League football, and the bookmakers have reacted accordingly, with many of the top betting apps in Canada 2025 releasing numerous alternative markets, including ‘To Finish 9-24 in the League Stage’, ‘Finish Bottom of the League Stage’ and ‘Top Serie A Team in the League Stage’.

Although Newcastle’s Champions League fixtures aren’t overly daunting, it may be worth wagering on the Magpies to finish 25-36 in the League Stage of the competition. Eddie Howe’s side have endured a disappointing transfer window and have also failed to win any of their first three Premier League outings. Their squad could become a little overstretched, and their first two home games against Barcelona and Benfica look far from straightforward.

At the other end of the table, Chelsea may be good value to gatecrash the top eight at odds of around 2.00. The Blues clearly thrive in high-stakes knock-out football, and they have a deep enough squad to challenge. Their schedule gets significantly easier following a tough opener at Bayern Munich.

Villareal will be pleased with their schedule, and they will fancy their chances of finishing in the top half of the standings. At slightly shorter odds of 1.75 to finish 9-24, they could be worth exploring, given that their away trips send them to Spurs, Dortmund, Paphos and Leverkusen.

Bettors can also wager on the ‘Team to Finish Bottom’ market with Kairat Almaty and Qarabag expected to be fighting it out to avoid the wooden spoon. Last season, two sides, Slovan Bratislava and Young Boys, both ended the league stage pointless; however, very few teams will relish these long-haul trips to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, and it’s hard to imagine that either of these teams will stink the place out as much as last year’s winless duo.

Slavia Prague and Paphos are the other potential candidates, with the Cypriot outfit looking like decent value at 14.00.
