MLS Cup Winner Odds: Who Should You Bet On?

MLS Cup Winner Odds: Who Should You Bet On?

The first quarter of the MLS season has been completed, and the competition is staking shape. A new-look season for teams in the competition is set for this year, as teams looking to win the MLS Cup will need to navigate breaks in the middle of the season due to the FIFA Club World Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Due to this, there will be no break for the Leagues Cup in late summer. However, there is no shortage of leading contenders f

Inter Miami

Unsurprisingly, the betting for the MLS Cup in 2025 is dominated by Inter Miami. Last season’s Supporters’ Shield winners set an all-time record for the most points, but they fell short on achieving their target after faltering at the Round One stage against Atlanta United.

Despite winning the first game in the series, Lionel Messi was powerless as he watched his side crash out of playoff contention. They already look a much different team this season, having won six of their opening ten matches.

Their attacking line, which consists of Messi and Luis Suarez, has already scored 20 goals this season. If maintaining their challenge into the post-season, they could be difficult to beat in 2025.

Vancouver Whitecaps

Like Inter Miami, the Vancouver Whitecaps crashed out of playoff contention in the opening round last season after overcoming the Portland Timber in the Wild Card round. However, they appear to be a team that have improved immeasurably during the off-season.

The Caps have enhanced their options in the final third for this season, and the signings of Jayden Nelson and Emmanuel Sabbi will see them go under the radar in the betting for the MLS Cup.

However, the early signs in 2025 look incredibly bright, as they have won eight of their opening eleven matches in the Western Conference. As well as boasting the best attacking record, they also have the best defensive record in the West.

Columbus Crew

The Columbus Crew are typically overlooked in the MLS Cup betting, which is slightly surprising considering their excellent record in the playoffs. The team have won the competition on three previous occasions, which includes two victories since the start of the 2020 campaign.

Wilfried Nancy will be hoping for more success with his team this season after reaching a major final in 2024. The team have been astute with their signings this year, bringing in players with MLS experience in the forms of Daniel Gazdag and Aliyu Ibrahim.

At present, the Crew are the standout team in the Eastern Conference after winning seven of the opening eleven matches. But, they will likely need more from their attacking players as the competition rolls on, as they have scored just 18 goals this season. However, they are hard to write off based on their previous performances in the playoffs.

FC Cincinnati

FC Cincinnati will also be hoping for a deeper run in the playoffs this season after falling at the First Round hurdle after losing a three-game series against New York City FC.

They have progressed on a year-by-year basis since entering the MLS in 2020, but they are yet to achieve a better run in the post season than their appearance in the conference finals in 2023. But, the team has strengthened, which will ensure that they are more capable of going deeper in the tournament this year.

The addition of Kevin Denkey offers a new option in the final third, while creative midfielder Evander has already been one of the standout players in the MLS this season. It would be fair to say that they have been a team that has caught the eye already this season after winning seven of their opening eleven matches. However, they will need to make defensive adjustments after allowing 13 goals already this term.

LAFC

Last season didn’t end how LAFC would have been hoping for, as their race for playoff glory was ended following a devastating extra time loss against the Seattle Sounders in the conference semi-finals.

However, the team’s record since joining the competition, especially in the playoffs, deserves huge respect. LAFC have reached at least the conference semi-finals in each of the last three seasons, and they have made the MLS Cup final in two of the last three campaigns. The team once again strengthened in the transfer window, with an eye-catching arrival coming in the form of the talented Igor Jesus.

It has taken a bit of time for LAFC to adjust this season following the departure of Carlos Vela, but they remain a team that knows what it takes to win soccer matches. Therefore, that will make them a very dangerous proposition if they successfully make the playoffs in 2025.
