The basketball action takes center stage on Saturday with an exciting NBA schedule for sports bettors to take advantage of. One of those matchups that fans and sports handicappers will have their eyes on will feature the San Antonio Spurs heading out west to take on the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena.
For these two teams this will be the second meeting of the 2017-18 NBA season with the Warriors picking up a 20 point win back on November 2nd, 2017 in San Antonio. In that contest the Warriors big four were to much for the injury depleted Spurs team to handle.
Klay Thompson led all scorers with a game high 27 points while Steph Curry added 21, Kevin Durant 24 and Draymond Green 16. In the loss, LaMarcus Aldridge picked up 24 points to go with 10 rebounds but the lack of talent and the absence of Kawhi Leonard left to much space between the two teams.
Here are the keys to the San Antonio Spurs matchup and Golden State Warriors on Saturday February 10th, 2018.
San Antonio Spurs – Shut down the Perimeter
In that first meeting the Spurs just couldn’t get it together on the defensive side of the floor as the Warriors proved to be too quick. That quickness showed up as the Warriors spread the ball around leaving wide opening looks for both Thompson and Curry behind the arc. In all the Warriors connected on 14 of 28 three point attempts while their ability to move the ball around led to 30 assists. This time around the Spurs will need to play aggressive on the wings to slow down the ball movement while finding a way to contest the three point line.
Golden State Warriors – Play Fast
One key advantage the Warriors have in this contest is their athelthic ability and speed. Both of those showed up in the first meeting and it wore down a veteran team like the Spurs that feature the likes of Pau Gasol, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli. While the Spurs have found a breath of youth with Davis Bertans and Dejounte Murray, the team still isn’t built to play fast. If the Warriors can pick up the pace this could be another double-digit blowout on Saturday.

San Antonio Spurs Betting Trends
The Spurs enter the weekend struggling winners of just five of their last ten games while covering the spread for sports handicappers in just five of those matchups. Along with the recent stretch, the Spurs have had their hands full on the road this season winning just 13 of 28 road contests while putting together a miserable 12-15 record against the spread. It hasn’t been all gloom for the Spurs as they have covered the spread in four straight road contests and in six of their seven contests against teams in the Pacific.
Golden State Warriors Betting Trends
The NBA’s top team has rolled to an impressive 42-13 mark on the year while posting a 20-7 record at the Oracle Arena. That said, the wins haven’t helped out the sports handicappers this season as the Warriors have covered the spread in just 24 of 54 contests this season including just 11 of their 27 home contests. Along with that the team has covered the spread in just two of their last eight contests against a team with a losing road record.
Head to Head Betting Trends
These two teams are very familiar with each as both teams continue to sit atop the Western Conference. This familiarity between the two teams has helped as the road team has covered the spread in five of their last six matchups. That said the trends lean towards the Warriors as the Spurs have failed to cover in four previous meetings. One thing to consider in this matchup though is how difficult it is for any team to win by double digits
