The Top 9 Quarterbacks This 2022-23 NFL Season
An NFL team can benefit greatly from having an outstanding quarterback. Of course, the world's greatest quarterbacks will compete in today's NFL season which began last September. Given all the factors you need to consider, which are leadership, statistics, and more, picking the best QBs will definitely give us a headache.
From Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers, you’ll see some of the best quarterbacks giving their best this NFL season. The NFL atmosphere should entirely get more nerve-racking this season as the best teams compete for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy. With that said, let's look at the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL as the new season gets underway.
Tom Brady, Buccaneers
As Brady returns to Buccaneers, he takes his throne back and is the number one Quarterback in the NFL today. There is no denying his star power. Even though he’s the oldest quarterback to win a Super Bowl at 43 or topping the league in yards passing at 44, age is just a number for Tom Brady.
Aaron Rodgers, Packers
If not for Brady, Rodgers would have been the best QB in today's NFL Super Bowl Odds for Quarterback MVP. It isn't much better than the 37-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio this two-time MVP winner recorded last season.
It will be nice to see how he adjusts minus Davante Adams in the game as he approaches his 39th birthday in December. If Romeo Doubs or Christian Watson can gain Rodgers' trust, they might be in for a speedy breakout season.
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
Mahomes, who will turn 27 soon, hopes to overtake Brady and Rodgers as the No. 1 quarterback as the season is underway. That will be a challenge though given Rodgers and Brady’s longevity. Nevertheless, the Chiefs have made the playoffs in each of the last seven seasons, with Mahomes playing a crucial role in the last four.
Also, since Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins, it would be different for him, but Mahomes will surely do what’s needed for his team to win.
Josh Allen, Bills
Despite not having as many awards as his rivals, Josh Allen has emerged as one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL after his performances over the past two seasons.
The Bills' offense has advanced thanks to his dual-threat ability, but to take the next step, they must get past the Chiefs in the postseason. The postseason breakthrough of Gabriel Davis gives hope for a stronger wideout attack, but let's see if Allen can surpass Mahomes this time.
Joe Burrow, Bengals
This is Joe Burrow’s 3rd season in the NFL. He brought his team to the Super Bowl a year after tearing his ACL and MCL. In terms of passing yards (6th), touchdowns (8th), passing points per game (3rd), completion percentage (1st), and average yards per throw, Burrow placed in the top 10 last year (No. 1). For those feats at such a young age, Joe Burrow deserves a spot with the best quarterbacks in the NFL season today.
Russell Wilson, Broncos
Wilson is starting a new journey with the Broncos after a fairly quiet season with the Seahawks, which turned out to be his final appearance with the team.
As the Seahawks went from being a dominant club to a rebuilding one, he lost his place as the top quarterback, but now is the moment for Wilson to convince everyone that he can follow up on his accomplishments, including winning the Super Bowl and being selected to the Pro Bowl nine times.
Matthew Stafford, Rams
The reigning Super Bowl victor earns a well-deserved spot in the top 10. Stafford has had an underappreciated career, which is to be expected when someone plays for a team that struggles, like the Detroit Lions.
In his first campaign after being traded, Stafford tied his career high of 41 touchdown passes in a season and helped the Los Angeles Rams defeat Burrow's Bengals in the Super Bowl.
Justin Herbert, Chargers
If there is one QB in close competition with Stafford, it's Herbert. Only Brady racked up more throwing yards than the 24-year-old Herbert's 5,014-yard performance as a rookie in the league.
Although the Los Angeles Chargers will play in the crowded AFC West(with two quarterbacks from that division already on this list) his growing chemistry with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen comes out positively for this season.
Lamar Jackson, Ravens
Since becoming the most inexperienced player to clinch the MVP in 2019, Jackson has reached a plateau. He lost five games last year, four of which were due to an ankle ailment. This NFL season 2022–2023, Jackson appears to be healthy and ready.
If the Ravens want to keep up with Burrow's Bengals in the divisional round, Jackson will need to perform at his MVP level again.
