As we plot our strategy at CentSports, the free sportsbook site, we may have to take their rather interesting agenda into account when we make our NBA Basketball Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat Spread Pick & Prediction for each team’s opening game in the NBA bubble. It’s on Saturday, starting at 1 PM ET. The Denver Nuggets took some folks by surprise this season, and even though it hasn’t been that way this time around, they are still near the top in the Western Conference.
Denver sits at 43-22 SU (29-32-4 ATS) and is in third place in the conference. They could conceivably aim higher, because the Los Angeles Clippers are only a game and a half ahead of them. They could also go lower, because they are barely ahead of Utah, Oklahoma City and Houston. But the objective of head coach Michael Malone is to keep his team healthy and figure out which rotations are going to work for them when they start the playoffs.
There’s an awful lot to figure out, which means Malone is lucky to have such luxury. The pleasant surprise for them in the scrimmage games was the play of Bol Bol, who had actually not been on the floor in the NBA. The rookie from Oregon, the son of Manute Bol, is extremely skilled with the NBA basketball, and he can defend in the paint too, which for the Nuggets, may be just a bonus. During practice sessions, Malone has actually had him playing the shooting guard spot at times.
NBA Basketball – Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat Spread Pick & Prediction
As we embark on our Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat Spread NBA Basketball Pick & Prediction, here are the betting odds that have been posted by the folks at CentSports:
Denver Nuggets -2
Miami Heat +2
Over 210.5 points -110
Under 210.5 points -110
Denver is going to have some force on its front line during this playoff season. Michael Porter Jr. should be at least somewhat useful, and like Bol, he’s a guy who is comfortable popping from the outside. And Nikola Jokic, who has been a point guard in scrimmage action (believe it or not) may be the NBA’s most versatile center.
Now add the rest of the ensemble cast, and you have a team with a lot of possible configurations.
Miami (41-24 SU, 33-30-2 against the NBA basketball pointspread) is a great example of an ensemble, led by a big star. Jimmy Butler has come aboard and hasn’t ruffled to many feathers, and he’s been a great leader. He does it at both ends of the floor as well (NBA All-Defensive Team member). With him as an anchor, Erik Spoelstra has been able to put together a rotation of developing people, and that includes TWO players in the starting lineup – Duncan Robinson and Rookie of the Year candidate Kendrick Nunn — who weren’t even drafted.
Bam Adebayo, who came from Kentucky as a raw talent but has finely tuned his game, is an All-Star. Goran Dragic has done well in a role coming off the bench. And the Heat made two veteran acquisitions – Jae Crowder and Andre Iguodala – who will be an integral part of this playoff run.
I’ll take Malone’s word for it that he might be experimenting a little in these seeding games. Miami is pretty close to being a well-oiled machine. What the future holds for the Heat is kind of unclear. But I’d be comfortable grabbing the small number with them in making my Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat Spread Pick & Prediction at CentSports.
