In the 2020 NHL Western Conference Final Game 1 contest the Stars defense and goal tending was too much for the Golden Knights from the opening puck drop to the final whistle.

Here is a NHL betting preview and prediction for the Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights contest on Thursday September 10th, 2020:

Western Conference Finals Goal Tender Preview

Anton Khudobin, Dallas Stars (9-5, 2.74 GAA during playoffs) – The Dallas Stars goal tender was brilliant between the pipes in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in route to a shutout win. In the contest, Khudobin recorded 25 saves while recording his first postseason shutout. During the playoffs, Khudobin has posted a 9-5 record while allowing 2.74 goals after recording a 16-8 record and 2.22 goals during the regular season.

Robin Lehner, Vegas Golden Knights (8-4, 1.99 GAA during playoffs) – After getting the night off in Game 1, Vegas Golden Knights goal tender is expected to be between the pipes for both Game 2 and Game 3 of the NHL Western Conference Finals. During the NHL playoffs, Lehner has been brilliant hold opponents to under two goals per contest (1.88 GAA) while recording an 8-4 mark to help the Golden Knights reach the Finals.

Goal Tender Advantage – Vegas Golden Knights

Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights Matchup Preview

Dallas Stars – In Game 1 the Stars turned to an unlikely star in John Klingberg who recorded the only goal who had recorded just two goals in his previous 20 contests. Entering Game 2, the Stars will need their stars to shine in hopes of pushing their lead to 2-0 during the Western Conference Finals. One of those players they will need to step up is Tyler Seguin who led the team in points during the regular season but has struggled during the playoffs. Over the last five contests, Seguin has failed to record an assist or goal scored. In addition to Seguin the team will need Jamie Benn to continue his hot play (two straight games with an assist) and Miro Heiskanen to keep finding his teammates (nine goals in his last 10 games, assists in seven of last 10 games).

Vegas Golden Knights – The Golden Knights are loaded with talent and they will be at near full strength on Thursday Night with Ryan Reaves returning to their roster after serving a suspension in Game 1. One player the team will rely on in Game 3 is Max Pacioretty who led the team during the regular season with 32 goals scored but in Game 1 recorded just three shots on goal. In addition to Pacioretty, the team will also Mark Stone and Reilly Smith as they were great during the regular season setting up their teammates for goal scoring opportunities.

Matchup Advantage – Vegas Golden Knights

Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights Betting Trends

Dallas Stars Betting Trends – The Stars have been an up and down team against the spread this season posting an overall 41-45 ATS record. However as an underdog, the Stars have posted an impressive 20-12-3 record against the spread during the regular season and NHL playoffs while also going 6-4 against the spread over there last 10 contests.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Trends – The Golden Knights have had the Stars number over their last eight meetings winning six of eight. Entering this matchup the Knights have been a difficult spread pick for fans as they have posted just a 38-49 record against the spread including covering the spread in just four of their last 10 overall games.

Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights Head to Head Betting Trends – In their last eight contest against the Golden Knights the Wings have recorded just two wins. Over their last seven total meetings the favorite has a 5-2 record against the spread.

Over/Under Betting Trends – While the Vegas Golden Knights look to be the popular NHL spread pick in this matchup, it will be hard to look past the Under in a series that could see low scoring goal totals in each game. Including Game 1, the last four contest that the Golden Knights have played in have resulted in the two teams failing to go over the goal total for the matchup.

Betting Odds – Vegas Golden Knights (-1.5)

Over/Under Puck Totals – 5.5 goals

CentSports Free NHL Spread Pick – Vegas Golden Knights

CentSports Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights NHL spread pick prediction: In what looks to be a great series by the two very good teams, the Golden Knights roster is built to win now and despite falling behind 1-0 in the series the team has the talent to bounce back in the series in both Game 2 as well as in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. While the Stars have been playing brilliant hockey, the big question is whether or not their goal tending can continue to limit a Knights team that are very good at finding the net.
